Dr Cheryl Lee, Managing Director of The EyeClinic

Dr Cheryl Lee brings back with her more than 10 years of international experience in the field of ophthalmology. She received a wide range of specialist training and has worked with the best eye doctors in England, in America and in France at the Pitie-Salpetriere hospital in Paris. Dr Lee returned to Singapore in 2009. Since then her work was recognised by Straits Times and international ophthalmologists. She was inducted into Straits Times Hall of Fame on 3rd May 2015 for expertise in vision care and eye diseases.

Her top eye specialty interest is myopia (short-sightedness) and diseases linked to myopia.

Since returning to Singapore

Dr Lee has increased public awareness of the Implantable Contact Lens™, the superior reversible vision correction option. Dr Lee is also on the expert panel for the Implantable Contact Lens™, the only lady doctor and South East Asian on the panel who trains the surgeons internationally. She has developed The EyeClinic as the number one Implantable Contact Lens™ in South East Asia.

Dr Lee has a 5 year old son which explains her interest and passion for myopia prevention and control in children. Her other sub specialty interests are linked with increasing quality of life. One of them is the treatment of dry eyes and DR Lee has introduced  scientifically  proven novel techniques for treating dry eyes  which did not exist before giving NEW HOPE to suffering patients.  

Her other interest is helping patients get rid of reading glasses. The Eyeclinic offers different methods and lenses to suit each patient’s preferences.

Dr Lee is a retinal surgeon, fully experienced in the management of cataracts, medical retinal conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, macula degeneration and ocular inflammatory disease like uveitis and dry eyes.

Academic accolades include the Gold Medal and Book Prize in Ophthalmology from the National University of Singapore, the Marie Comer Anglian Prize in Ophthalmology from the University of Cambridge and she distinction in the Alcon Glaucoma UK Competition in 2005.

She is an active speaker at the yearly European eye research conferences and is up to date with the best eye technology.

Dr Lee is also fully conversant in English, Mandarin, Teochew, Malay, French and Russian.

Deborah (Clinic manager)

Deborah has been working closely with Dr Lee since Clinic is in operation in 2010. She performs financial counselling on all patient prior to treatment and surgery. She is resourceful in organizing emergency or urgent surgical procedures.


Being an expert on implantable contact lens calculations, she plays a critical role in creating The EyeClinic as one of the most well-known ICL centres in the world. She heads the revolutionary dry eye centre.


Emily has been a member of eye team since 2011. She handles phone inquiries/bookings and provides assistance with insurance verification and eligibility. She helps with the assessment of patient financial requirement, benefits and co-payments. She also assists patients in obtaining pre-authorization of services and /or Guarantee of Payments and submission of Medical/Surgical Claims/Mediclaims (Medisave/Medishield) and private/international insurances.


As an optometrist who wear orthokeratology lenses and having an interest in myopia control, she can discuss with you on the most suitable treatment plan for you child in controlling myopia progression. She is also experienced in fitting orthokeratology lenses for adults.
