Why Choose The EyeClinic?

A) We offer both Atropine eye drops and Ortho-K contact lenses

At The EyeClinic, we believe that no one standard method works for everyone. Every child has different needs and lifestyles, hence requiring different forms of myopia control. By offering both options, we can have an unbiased discussion on which is better suited for your child and tailor a program for each individual child.

B) We customize your Ortho-k lenses

To achieve good results, the lens should be specially fitted for you taking into consideration the shape of your cornea. This also means we can correct a wider range of prescription.

C)We have a dedicated myopia control team

This means that you are personally taken care of by a doctor and optometrists who are reachable and accountable to you.

D) Our Optometrists wear Ortho-K.

This means we understand what you are going through and know how to make your journey easier.

Dr Lee: Ortho-K wear for me is a commitment. As most are wearing it for myopia control, we want the child to be able to continue wearing for many years. The commonest reason for stopping ortho-k wear is dry eyes and infections. The risks of dry eyes and infection are not worth taking as they can have sight threatening consequences and yet can be easily prevented.

1. Dry eyes
It has been proven that ortho-k lenses affects the tear osmolarity which means dry eyes. The consequences range from minor irritation to the inability to wear contact lenses and an increased risk of corneal inflammation and eye infections. We would suggest research proven esterified Omega three to prevent the problems and this will be discussed and advised during your visit.

2. Infection
The causes are dirty contact lens cases and we advised on strict and effective cleaning regimen. Bacteria cling to the eyelashes which are in close contact with the ortho-k lenses and Blephex procedure (in-clinic) can be done to remove organisms and dirt from the eyelashes.

I started the myopia clinic because I wanted ortho-k to be co-managed by a doctor and an optometrist. Our optometrists have experience customising lenses for you. In fact they wear ortho-k lenses themselves which means they understand your needs. As an eye doctor, I understand your eye health and issues are treated preemptively and promptly.

GOOD NEWS!
