What’s the correct way to apply eye drops?
How to stop eye drops going down your throat?
Some patients will actually experience a metallic taste after putting in drops (this is very common with steroid drops), and wonder if it's okay. The answer is yes. This is totally normal, and is no cause for concern whatsoever.
Since the tear ducts are connected to the nose and throat via the sinuses, you may end up being able to taste or feel the drops. Although this is completely normal and safe, you can prevent this from happening by gently pressing on the tear duct once you have applied your eye drops.
